We had a nice weekend two weekends ago (weather wise) in the city of Chicago, IL. I believe it was almost in the sixties and that is basically UNHEARD OF in Chicago during March. If you are reading this in real time, I want to make certain that M and I did this Chicago walking tour before the “social distancing” was ordered in Chicago. The social distancing was ordered the following weekend (weekend of 3/14/2020). Okay, so now that that is out of the way 🙂 let’s talk walking tour!
M and I have been wanting to do a Chicago walking tour for quite some time now. We did a walking tour in Munich, Germany and New Orleans, Louisiana and we both really enjoyed listening to an app, walking around together and learning new things. M’s sister, niece, nephew and sister’s friend and sister’s friend’s daughter were visiting the city for M’s niece’s birthday and we thought, what better way than to complete the walking tour and meet up with M’s family afterwards since it was so nice.
The app we used for this tour was called Atlantis Audio Tours, free tours by foot. M and I both enjoyed this app and it was about an hour and a half long and of course you can speed that up or make it longer based on how long you stay at each attraction the app leads you to. I know the company is “free tours by foot,” but this tour was $1.99.
The tour covers the following attractions:
- Quincy Train Station
- Willis (Sears) Tower
- Civic Opera Building
- 200 W Madison Lobby
- Walgreens
- St. Peters Church
- Chicago Loop Synagogue
- Chase Building
- Michael Jordan Building
- Old Carson Pirie Scott & Co Building (now Target)
- Garrett’s Popcorn
- Chicago Athletic Association–bonus points if you time it out and make a reso to enjoy a drink at their rooftop bar/restaurant “Cindys”
- Crown Fountain
- Cloud Gate aka The Bean
Below are some pictures from our tour:
