Reading takes you to another level of fantasy. Every person can read a book and have a different interpretation of the story being told. Most books let you escape your reality and enter into a fantasy world. I personally believe reading “exercises the mind” in a positive way and unleashes your abstract and clinical thinking. As I discussed in my post on Self Care Sundays, I’ve started to leisurely read again and below I will review three books I’ve read recently. I have also started to follow Reese Witherspoon’s book club instagram page (@reesebookclub) to stay on top of New York Times best sellers and trending books. I’ve heard wonderful things about * “Where The Crawdads Sing” and was recommended by a lot of my friends and sister. I knew nothing about this book before I read it but decided to give it a shot. My sister ended up lending me this book to read and boyyyy was it a TEAR JERKER. Now, I’m told I can cry easily…and maybe I do cry at commercials and if I think of something sad…but I asked two of my friends if they cried after this book (one is a crier like me and the other is not) and they both said yes. SO, it must be at least a little sad to the people that don’t have the nickname “waterworks.” This book was hard to get into at first for me. I cried the first chapter and thought to myself “is it worth it?” It was in fact worth it, but I just had to get over that first chapter hump. After the fourth chapter I was hooked and couldn’t put this book down. I again cried during the last couple of chapters and at the end, BUT I would not waste my words if this book was not worth it. My co-worker said there is a 2-3 month wait list at her local library for this book so that says a lot. I say this book is a 8/10.

“The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”—Taylor Jenkins Reid

Bottom line, I bought this book mostly because www.theskinnyconfidential.com said to. And because I’m a blonde, Skinny Confidential is a blonde and Evelyn Hugo is a blonde. Us blondes stick together, don’t ya know? Anyway, * “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” was ALSO a tear jerker. I KNOW I KNOW, I’m a cry baby…but seriously, I cried multiple times throughout this book, but again. WORTH THE READ. Evelyn Hugo is a fictional character that many individuals can relate to nowadays. Especially with the LGBTQ world being so strong in 2019. This book has a twist that I did not see coming (some of you might have saw this immediately, but I did not). Without giving a lot away about this book, I would highly recommend this book. I rate this book an 8/10 as well.

“When Life Gives You Lululemons”—Lauren Weisberger

I read * When Life Gives You Lululemons in a week. I found this at Target (as you can tell I buy a lot of my books at Target)…but I’ve linked every book from Amazon for your purchasing convenience. I like Lauren Weisberger’s writing. She also wrote the famous “The Devil Wears Prada,” and “Chasing Harry Winston.” Both of which I have also read. She tends to write about wealthy women falling from the top and then re-building their way up..which I can appreciate a good feminist focused read to motivate me in my own life. With that being said, this is a quick read and good to pick up for a vacation, road trip or by the lake/pool. I say this book is a 7/10.
